The Falls Church News-Press holds a special place in the history of the City of Falls Church, Virginia. Since its founding in March 1991 by Nicholas F. Benton, the newspaper has been an integral part of the community, reflecting the city’s growth and progress over the past 30 years.
As an independent,locally-owned newspaper, the Falls Church News-Press has faithfully delivered approximately 1,500 consecutive weekly editions to every household in the City of Falls Church and surrounding areas. The community’s unwavering support has been instrumental in the newspaper’s success, leading to accolades such as being named Business of the Year in the City of Falls Church twice and earning the ‘Pillar of the Community‘ recognition by the local Chamber of Commerce twice.
Notably, the newspaper’s coverage of local government meetings has enhanced transparency and citizen engagement, while its support for local businesses has contributed to their growth and success. With each weekly edition, the newspaper reflects the city’s pulse, capturing the essence of its people, businesses, and organizations, ensuring that the Falls Church News-Press remains an enduring symbol of community spirit and resilience.
The History Press published a 192-page paperback book by D.C. Charlie Clark, a journalist, historian, and former writer of the weekly “Our Man in Arlington” column for the Falls Church News-Press. The book, titled “Life and Times of the Falls Church News-Press”, was released in 2023 and is available for purchase online.
